TAKAAT in Bellingham!
Members of Mdou Moctar (Nigeria) / Eric King book tour / AltLib status micro-report
First off, the inspiration for this update is largely to broadcast our excitement for the imminently approaching performance in Bellingham with TAKAAT, currently on a USA tour!
The last few years have each been marked by a singular autumnal renegade show, powered by a generator, at various locations around Bellingham. We weren’t planning anything this year, but when we were contacted by TAKAAT, and heard their music, it was a no-brainer to organize a show for them. We’ll be announcing the location with an e-mail to ticket-holders on Sunday, and the show will be on Monday evening!
Beyond that…
We’ve got a few other upcoming events where we’ll be popping up, including an author talk in Bellingham with recently released political prisoner, Eric King, who we’ve been following since learning of his 10-year incarceration for an act of protest over the police murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri over the police murder of Michael Brown in 2014. Eric’s memoir was just published by PM Press, and he’ll be presenting an author talk here in Bellingham before we all head to Seattle for the Seattle Anarchist Book Fair on October 18th+19th at the Vera Project.

Where’s the AltLib?
Everyone’s asking... The truth is, our permanent collection has now been in storage for a few years, and efforts to find another storefront have slowed to a crawl, following a stroke of disappointments with previous efforts toward finding a suitable space to reopen in Bellingham amidst covid lockdowns and a real estate market of speculation. Our current organizational capacity is low, but a few of us still occasion behind the controls, and are making a slow effort to reach out to some of the more passionate respondents who included their e-mail addresses in responding to our user survey, and consider what’s feasible, even if not ideal, in 2026.
Our publication studio is still operational, having relocated to a shared studio space with NEOGLYPHIC MEDIA, a publishing platform operated by AltLib founder, Future. To get involved with our mutual aid publishing program, or to inquire about publishing internships, send an e-mail to: info@AltLib.org
